Fixed orthodontic is done after the age of 12 years old and in permanent dentition. There is no skeletal effects in this method.

The stability of the orthodontic result depends on several factors such as treatment plan and new position of the teeth. Even in best treatment results there are some chances for relapses and the patient may decrease the amount of relapse by accurate wearing of the retainers prescribed by the orthodontists.
